thats because linux is so awesome, its compatable with any printer, you just need to know where to find the open source drivers for it...google rocks for that

I can tell you from personal experience that the HP Photosmart C4580 works perfectly with the hplip driver

i have plugged several different printers as well as other stuff ( wireless dongles, scanners so on, testing them for mates who still use windows and have lost the drivers ) and everyone worked first time without any drivers needed
