The IP address is not hardware-specific. It's assigned by the ISP (if you're connecting direectly to a modem) or by the router (if you have one) and can change at any time.

That setting would depend on your specific network. As we're not in the network, we would not know.

I rather doubt they have a fixed one, or it wouldn't conform to some home networks. In any case, I suggest you go to the Technical Support section of the Lexmark website and see if you can download the user documentation for that printer. That should give you everything you need to connect it up.

Hope that helps.

ip addresses are not assigned to just specific machines, except in rare circumstance

most often they are assigned dynamically meaning they change a lot

if u have the machine with you there are various methods you can use to i find out your ip address

you could go to http://www.whatismyip.com/ for instance where it not only tells you your ip but also a few other neat facts about ip addresses :)

The IP Address for that may be determined by DHCP on LAN systems, so Assuming your on a lan. you can try a couple things to find it out.

1. If your on a wireless router (and so is the printer) on some routers you can find out from them.

1.1- Open your internet explorer and in the address bar type in your Default Gateway. (usually 192.168.0.1) (dont put .com or anything either)

1.2- Find an area that has the devices listed (might be on its own page like LAN Devices.

1.3- If you cant find it, look under a "Status" tab of some sort.

2. Really the first thing I'd try if 1 wouldn't work is google up an app that would find it for you.

2.1- Luckily for you, I did this for you. heres the link http://www.radmin.com/products/utilities/lanscanner.php (ill place a direct link in the source area)

2.2- Install the program, (its really small)

2.3- Launch the program, It'll bring up a explorer with it, or you can find it in your start menu

2.4- Just hit "Scan" and it'll scan all the IP Addresses in your SubNet range.

3. Googling a link scanner for other Operating systems (other than windows)

3.1- Well since you didn't tell me your Operating system, heres one thats compatible with all of them

3.2- Download it here. http://sourceforge.net/projects/ipscan/ then when your on the page click "Veiw all files" next to the download button.

3.3- Download your operating systems version, install, run, and scan

Final Note:

I hope this helped someone, and these methods can be used for finding other computers too.

I've never actively needed either of these but I did try them out before I posted this, and they worked just fine. but I dont need them since most of my network is done with Static IPs
