All printers are pretty much the same, make your decision based on the cost and quality of the ink to refill them.

I use to have an epson but the ink cost much more then the HP printers ink and was not better.

I prefer the HP printers and the one I use now is wireless so I can put it off the desk and still print on it. That is a great feature. The quality of print is amazing. Especially for photos.

Ok, if you just want black and white, go with a laser printer. HP, Brother, Canon etc. HP and Brother both have readily available remanufactured cartridges for newer models that yield up to 3000-6000 pages depending on the model. If you want colour anything using an ink tank system will yield you the most pages (Takes new canon 8s, Brother 51s or the Epson line). The reason being no one ever uses all three colours CMY and black at the same rate. If you print say a lot of scened with you at the beach you'll run through a lot of blue ink and less of the others. Printers where all three colours are in one cartridge will in the long run get more costly. You pay $25+ bucks for that colour HP/Lexmark cart and you get 5-10 ml total ink. You pay $45 for Brother, Epson or Canon CMY set and you get 30-45 mL total ink. They offer 500 page yields at 5% coverage. Not bad. And if you run out of yellow you only replace yellow not the whole cartridge. Just an idea. Plus filling ink tanks have a higher success rate than filling inkjet carts with printheads attafched like Lex and some HP and the new Canon 40/41/50/51 carts.

I use HP DESKJET 2050 for almost a year now, I have no problems so far with this printer and the print quality is great! HP makes the best printers nowadays (Next to brother). Epson was the best printer during its prime (90's to early 2000) but now, there are more and best alternatives to choose from.

Epson

1. Awesome Price !!

2. Print, Scan and copy

3. Very High print speed(28 ppm black & 15ppm colour), greater

than almost all printers in this range.

4. Per page cost is very economical: Rs 1.33 for black and

Rs 3.23 for colour printout with T107 series cartridges

5. There are 4 individual cartridges, Black, Cyan, Magenta &

yellow so one can replace only those which are empty !!

6. Input/Output tray have higher capacity than other models

of HP, canon etc.

7. Print resolution is also higher than others !!

HP

pros:

1.sleek and stylish design

2.very good print quality, copy quality and scan quality

i'm mentioning 3 because all the three i find it of respectable quality

3.very good pricing

4.not so expensive catridge for home use

5.good service network of hp in india

cons

1.scanning in very high resolution takes a little extra time

2.can't be used for office use. i mean for home use the catridges are cheap but not for everyday heavy use..
