I cannot remove a network printer port on windows XP. I am logged in as an administrator, I have tried right clicking on any space on printer properties -> server properties -> ports tab and then try and delete a port but it will not let me. Sometime this works and somethime it does not. Can anyone explain why? Is there a way to force XP to delete using command line?

goto command prompt

>net stop spooler

>net start spooler

then go to "Printer and Faxes" window right click->Server Properties-> select Ports tab -> Select the port to delete-> Click Delete Port
