When we took delivery of the HP PSC 1317 it printed fine. When we went to change the cartridges we realised the previous pair were Tesco branded and now we have HP cartridges which produce an error message on screen and an 'E' appears on the printer display. The black HPcartridge now works but not the colour and whenever we put it in printer, you can't print or do anything

it is assumed the the 'E' that appears on the printer display is related to the ink cartridge(s). have you tried to download and install the latest printer software / driver for your computer's operating system at... http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=374584&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us&submit=Go%20ยป

after performing the above task, let us know if you are still experiencing problems with your printer.

good luck!

Sounds like it's either not fully seated, or you forgot to remove the tape from it before you put it in.

If that's not the case, could be a bad cartridge or you somehow managed to damage the printer.
