Question:
Which brand of printers allow you to refill the cartridges?

I am buying a new all-in-one and would like to know which brand lets you refill the cartridges and use them quite a few times. My previous one, an HP all-in-one officejet J4580 is currently residing in my garbage pail. I am sick of paying the high price for their HP cartridges and it won't take refilled cartridges.

Most important buy a printer with single cartridges for each colour (mostly 5).

Then it is easy and cheap because you refill only the colour that ran out. HP cartridges have

the print head built in the cartridge, therefore they are expensive. Other brands like Epson or Canon

have a central print head and the cartridges are only a plastic box with ink. Most of them have a

chip that can be cheated (Epson) or ignored (Canon).

I use a Canon printer and I refilled the cartridges, but since a long time I buy the cheap noname cartidges for about 1$ (keeps hands clean). I changed cartridges about 50times without any problem.

You do NOT loose your warranty by using such cartridges. They only write that to make customers

feel unsafe.

You can refill some Canon and Epson, but the print quality suffers. HP and Lexmark cost more, but you get a complete print head when you replace the cartridge, not just an ink tank. If the head on your Epson gets blocked with dry ink, it can't be fixed for a decent price.

Personally, I wouldn't buy an All-in-One. Do you actually fax stuff anymore? Most people just send emails with an attachment if needed. Do you actually scan docs? In the long run, a black and white laser printer like a Brother HL 2140 is cheap, unless you need color.

If you actually scan docs then get a separate scanner. If you need a color printer I would recommend a Brother HL 4040CDN.

If you do a lot of color printing, laser printers are cheaper and faster than inkjet printers.

Their are a variation of printer that allow refill, the best thing for you to do is look for a printer that suit your need go to a nearest ink refill station and ask if they have a refill for that brand and type of printer. then just buy that printer if they dont have a refill for that then look for another printer. you can also look online site like printcountry.com to see wide selection of ink refill that are available

Using a refilled cartridge in your printer will void the warranty!
