?

I did this before with no problems whatsoever (different Computer and printer)- not this time

I am downloading a Epson Stylus C86 on to a new Acer with Vista 64 ... We no longer have the CD but figured it did not matter. Went to Epson to download the drivers. Went to the Vista page. There were no drivers to install! It said "in box" which means :

In-Box = Drivers are included with Windows Vista. Just connect your Epson product to your computer and follow the onscreen instructions that Windows Vista displays to guide you through driver installation.

What does this mean? I am confused. I am not enough of a computer person to know what to do!

hello, i guess this site for printer drivers may work instead for you:

http://www.printer-drivers.org/

as i know, the program there offers free scan and can get almost any printer drivers we need correctly and easily. yes, there is a page for epson printer drivers.

hope my information can be helpful to you.

Just plug your printer into the pc while it is on. You should get a little box down in the right hand corner that says "installing drivers" That will take a minute or so and than the printer will be ready to use. You can find your newly installed printer in the start menu under devices and printers.

Vista should be able to recognize that you installed the printer right after you connect it's USB cable, but in cqase not, you can either (1) use the find new device wizard...control panel->system->device manager->click on the system name, then under "action" click "scan for hardware changes", or (2) use the add a printer wizard...control panel->printers->should be an entry on the left side or in the main box for "add a printer" (don't have my Vista machine on now to check), then go from there. You should be able to figure it out from there on, but if not, just post back here with your results.

Exactly what it says, hook it up and watch vista go 'be-bomp" (the windows new hardware detected noise) a box will appear lower right identifying your exact printer and should install driver for it. That simple, cant get any easier :)
