HOW CAN I FIX ERROR 2,140,21 ON MY PRINTER CANON MP230?

Question

I am trying to scan on my printer/scanner CANON MP230, but everytime this error code 2,140,21 ("printer is being used or an error has occurred") is showing up, the black ink is all out, does that has to do anything with the problem? it doesn´t seem logical that it needs ink to SCAN. I already tried turning off and on the printer, I checked also for pending print-outs and there´s none, I ran the problem diagnosis software and nothing....please help. Thanks.

you will try under the step ......................................... Remove all paper from the machine and then blow out the feed roller and paper tray thoroughly with compressed air three or four times. Once done plug in back in and insert a single sheet of paper. Turn the machine on and then connect the usb cable. Then please test the machine and see if the problem is still there. If it is next remove all the paper from the machine. Then with a flashlight look very closely at both the paper feed roller, as well as inside the machine around the ink cartridges. Something as small as a pin stuck in either area could cause this problem. Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine Then clean the contacts on the cartridges as well as inside the machine itself Do this with a small amount of warm water on a cotton swab until no ink comes off on the swab If any of the other cartridges are low, empty, leaking or bulging replace them Then turn off the machine and unplug it for 70 seconds Plug it back it and wait for the insert cartridges message Insert the cartridges and check to see if the problem is still there. Unfortunately if the problem is still there after this it means the feed roller has failed and needs to be replaced. Replacing this part however can sometimes cost more than replacing the machine itself so I would call around for a price first. If you bought the machine less than a year ago this should be covered under the warranty. If you get a warning regarding Ink is Empty and even you cannot Scan your documents then you might require a small R&D, Just hold Stop/Reset button for about 5 seconds, then open cartridge access door, Remove both the Cartridge's and wipe it with the wet tissue or cloth... spray water or deodorant on the exposed golden surface of the cartridge and do not let it dry, install as soon as possible... Then close the cartridge access door and switch off your printer, then Re-start it and connect to your computer, Hold Stop/Reset button for 5 seconds and then enjoy scanning...





Solving error code 2,140,21 or 2140,21 on Canon printers



This error appears when the scanner is used.

"Printer is in use or an error has occurred. Check status.

Scanner driver will be closed. Code : 2,140,21"





Solution 1: On Windows: go to "devices"

Click on "Printer"

Click on "Stop printing".



Solution 2: Reinstate the driver of the printer.



Solution 3: Sometimes, replacing the cartridge could solve the problem.

Left click Canon My printer in start line to the far right

(-Or you will find it by clicking windows start icon , lower left ;-) , then below control panel there should be units(enheter on norwegian) and writters)

There should come upp a menu, choose Printer status . A new windows opens.

Click alternativ and deactivate status guard.

Google error number with make and model. Uninstall, re install printer software. Go to Canon website, chat with service tech.

For me a wire tie had fallen into the printer, and got stuck under the rollers. By pushing a piece of paper under the rollers and turning the printer on its side with a little tapping I was able to see it and pull it out. After restarting everything was working fine. So check for things that might have fallen into the printer.

it looks very stupid product, I wanted to use my scanner and the scanner wont work because of ink cartridges.
