Hi. I haven't used my Epson WF-2540 4-in-1 inkjet printer in a LONG TIME, and part of the reason was I had no ink in it. I recently got ink cartridges for it. I tried printing test pages, and my printer won't print them properly. Sheets of paper run through my printer unprinted.

How do I fix this? I was told it's a command issue. Please help. Thank you.

First find a baseball BAT AND THREATEN THE MACHINE.    Turn off your computer, make sure the printer is plugged in and turn the computer back on.  Let it discover the printer. It may need a driver.  Install the driver into you computer and try again. If it is frustrating you that is what the bat is for.  Tease it or really scare it and show up with a screwdriver.

I'm almost sure it's a case of clogged print heads. You need to clean them with head cleaners. Buy a small bottle from the computer store. You will need a 2.5 or 5cc syringe too.

did you try turning it off and on again?

does it ACT like it's printing or does it just spit the paper out without trying? you may need to remove the printer and uninstall the software, then reinstall from scratch.

My guess is your printheads are clogged with dried up ink.

Try running a couple of cleaning cycles using the controls on the printer.

Also, tell the printer to print something from the printer itself.  My Epson printer can print calendars using the controls on the printer itself.  If you can print something from the printer itself, but not your computer, then it's likely a driver issue.

But if it still won't print when doing something like a calendar from your printer, then it's clogged printheads.

They do make cleaning kits for Epson printheads.  I've bought one and it worked very well.  They are basically cleaning solution, a syringe and a rubber tube designed to fit the printhead.

There should be maintenance software installed on your PC. This software cleans the ink heads. However, clogged heads are common on inkjets and the cleaning operation can fail. Once that's happened your printer is scrap. May I suggest that unless you really need colour printing buy a laser printer. Cheaper printing per page. High quality printouts that don't run if you sneeze on them. Nothing to clog. My HP was really cheap and I wouldn't be without it.
