Question:
Are there any monochrome (black and white) printers that share ink/cartridges with color printers?

I'm trying to find both a color printer and a monochrome printer that share the same kind of ink (color using black and all the other colors bought, while monochrome would use the same kind of black ink). I have been looking, but so far I haven't found any compatible ink/cartridges. Using Yahoo Answers as my last check.
If so, what brand of printer(s)?

most printers have Black + Cyan Yellow Magenta when printing you just set the preferences to BLACK cartridge only and your print can then be B & W . Shades of Gray(monochrome) is made up of colours. So i dont quite know what else you are expecting. Some printers also have two types of cartridge one for a broad spectrum of document printing and photo printing, and others for much finer Photos only.

You won't find any new printers, modern inkjets can print both monochrome and colour so there is no need for a manufacturer to develop a monochrome inkjet.

I don't know, you could try looking on printer manufacturer websites like HP and Epson, but any color printer can also print monochrome.
