Go in the control panet and select Printer Faxes. Right-click on the printer and make sure that you are using USB port and not parallel because you have installed the parallel/USB cord.
You probably have parallel settings in the printer preferences. it should be USB and it will work. Set the printer to default printer.
For that particular model, the paper is fed through the rear. You will see that their are little studs stickout out of the paper gripper. You can move these grippers, side to side so that , when you put the paper in the grippers, you speard them slightly to tighten the paper feed.
In the front. their is a button that says Load paper. press it and the paper will load in the correct position.

Most dot matrix printers use a form-feed type paper with little holes on the edges.
You should simply have to look for the knobs that fit in these holes and unlatch the guide. It should be fairly straight forward.
Though, the installation using a USB/Parallel cable is probably going to give you some driver issues.

Step 1 : Install drivers for the USB / parallel cable, THEN connect it, let windows detect it and give it a virtual LPT port name
Restart windows
connect printer to cable and isntall selected drivers, telling it to use the port as given in step above, printer should have ccome with details on installing it's drives
