Okidata Microline 320 Turbo Dot Matrix Printer available from $300 at Amazon or Tiger Direct.

Epson LQ-570+ Dot Matrix Printer available from $200 from str-s.com

I would get the Okidata as I have had much luck with them in the past.

My dot matrix is in storage, I miss it dearly. I usually used it for documents and letters while the ink jet was used for photos and anything that needed color. Dot matrix's are really good printers and very reliable just as long as the feed is perfect. The new ones do start about $200 for black and white and can reach upwards of $400-600 for color. The new ones are faster and quieter than the old ones and if I remember cerrectly the ribbons usually run about $10 each. That could last a whole year or two depending on how often you use it. The only problem I had with Dot Matrix is that documents come out a little awkward because programs usually spaces out the feed because they think it's an inkjet so adjustments need to be made before printing. I think I'm going to get that ****** from storage

modern dot matrix printers are extremely expensive unless you manage to find1 that some1 is throwin out. an inkjet printer would be much faster printing wise, you can get a cheap inkjet for around30-50 usd..dot matrix.. they start from around 200. i'd suggest goin to ur local recycling center or so and see if they have any old1s lyin around or at community recyclin days. the 1 advantage they have is the low cost of printer ribbon which will set u back only a few dollars (5 $ usd?) compared to 50 for an inkjet
