Question:
Can you recommend an excellent all-in-one ink-jet printer?

Don't care about LCD window.
DO care about:
1. Seperate (inexp.) ink tanks. Duplex copying.
2. Decent size paper feed tray & envelope feed.
3. Stand alone fax & copier (doesn't need computer to run)
4. Decent text, photo, and graphics quality.
5. Wireless if possible, but not a deal breaker.

I'm considering Canon Pixma MP970, HP Office Jet L7580, and Epson Stylus CX9400 Fax.

Are there other considerations I should include? Thanks for your help.

The Epson CX9400fax. I don't believe it has duplexing but I'm not sure this is highly desirable on an inkjet anyway. It does have the best warranty in the industry. For a year Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one should you need it. I have been using and recommending Epson for years and between myself, family, friends and clients we must have hundreds. I know of one which needed replacement. One phone call and we had a new one two days later.

Great scanning/copying/printing. I scanned in cereal boxes and printed exact duplicated on plain paper hard to tell from the original with a CX8400. Epson ink cartridges are expensive but you can get cartridges for under $5 at http://ccs-digital.com/ink.asp which work well. Be careful with compatibles because most don't work due to changes in the newer printers. Don't get refills or remanufactured cartridges.

The printer is on sale direct at epson.com for $99. I think there's even free shipping.

Do your research first. The HP L7580 has a 4.7out of 10. The Epson CX9400F has a 6.8 out of 10. Canon Pixma MP970 has a 6.9 out of 10, but it does not have fax capabilities. Epson also has a wireless all-in one printer, the CX9475 but the Epsons' do not offer auto-duplexing. Out of the three listed above, I would recommend buying the Canon MP970 and then purchasing a stand alone fax machine or go with the Epson CX9400 or 9475 and manually turn your papers. I have an Epson CX series printer and I love it. When I want to duplex, I simply tell it to print all odd pages, turn them over and then tell it to print all even pages. The greatest thing about the Epson CX printer series is that they all use DuraBrite pigment ink, so your prints are waterproof, even on plain paper. Why do I like this ink? Because I print for business and when I am traveling, sometimes my papers get rained on and as we all know, dye based inks run when they get wet. The pigment ink does not run, the paper gets wet and has to dry, but all your words are still there. If you go to cnet.com and click on reviews, you can type your model numbers in and read editor and customer reviews. Hope this helps.

I just had this same question a about two weeks ago when I was trying to buy and all in one printer. Most people told me to go for an Epson, they are the best, but also the most expensive. I settled for a Canon, they are really great at printing pics. I am very happy with it.

Make sure you check on the cost of the ink, because once you buy those a couple of times, it starts to add up.

I have the Epson CX9400 and I love it. It does everything I need it to. I dont think you can use it wireless though, I havent tried. It was about $100 but they do have a cheaper version of it, i think its a bit smaller....

Try SamsungXpress Color Lasers, those things last forever. I've had mine for a few years and it still works great. Note to printer manufacturers: Please stop putting network controls on them, they serve no purpose except costen the price.
