Regarding ink costs, the HP brand higher-capacity inks for this printer (they are listed under one of the tabs (= "Cartridges") on the first link above - the HP product info page) - may seem expensive (about $30/ per black cartridge and $18/for each color cartridge) but they do offer cheaper lower-yield ones (about $10-$12/cartridge) (the higher-capacity ones are a better deal in the long run).



Keep in mind that you could also save money by purchasing high-yield remanufactured cartridges for this printer:

Why HP? While there are lots of printers, I would check Consumer Reports and look for printers with a low cost per page. HP supplies (ink and print heads) are some of the most expensive. Virtually all new printers will work with Windows 7. I found that I print 90% of the time using (only) black ink--unfortunately color printers often use the color cartridges when printing black-only pages. This can make it very expensive to own a color printer. I have an older Canon color printer (about 5-years old) that works fine with Windows 7. I also have a new Brother lazer printer that costs less than $.001 a page (plus paper). The color printer costs about $.05/page (in black). Color is about $.20/page.



I'm also not a fan of HP (had them for years) because their product support is done in Whoknowswhereistan where the support techs don't speak enough English to understand me. They also don't seem to care about the customers as much as they should. The Canon is supported out of Utah (where most people speak English).
